The FIFA Executive Committee, chaired by President Joseph S. Blatter, will convene in Nassau (Bahamas) on Saturday and Sunday, 30-31 May 2009, for its second meeting of the year. The agenda features a wide range of topics, including the designation of the 12 Host Cities for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, the preparations for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 in South Africa and - of course - the preparations for the 59th FIFA Congress.
The announcement of the 12 Brazilian cities which will host the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ will be made shortly after the end of the meeting on 31 May.
With only two weeks to go before the FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, the FIFA executive will be given an update on the current status of preparations for this major international football event, as well as for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
Other topics on the committee's agenda include:
- an update on the agenda of the FIFA Congress that will take place in Nassau on 2-3 June
- a report on the inspection tour and preparations for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009
- updates on the preparations for other upcoming FIFA competitions in 2009 and 2010
- a review of pending cases related to member associations.
Finally, the executive will receive reports on the various committee meetings that have taken place since the last FIFA Executive Committee meeting held in Zurich in March 2009.
