MPs satisfied with Luanda Stadium progress
 15/06/2009

MPs of the 6th Commission of the National Assembly are satisfied with the rate of the construction works of the Luanda stadium, which is being constructed in the Camama area of Kilamba Kiaxi Municipality.

Gustavo da Conceição made these statements at the end of his visit to the stadium that will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the African Cup of Nations from 10-31 January 2009.

According to him, this second visit to the Luanda stadium aims to measure the rate at which the infrastructure construction is being done, which is already a very good reflection of the stadium construction drive of the Angolan government.

“We are very satisfied because when we compare what is on the ground during this second visit with what we save during the first visit, there is a great difference. At that time, only the first ring had been concluded, and today, the second has already been concluded”, he said.

According to the Member of Parliament, there is need to commence the roofing work. The masonry and interior services left the 6th Commission MPs satisfied with the development stage of the works.

“After all the information that we gathered through our local observation, we can boldly say that on 11 November we will be able to have the trial match in this stadium to prove that it is approved and ready to host AFCON 2010”, he further said.

Questioned on the next visits to the remaining provinces that will also host the AFCON games, he said that the 6th Commission has scheduled visits to all the Provinces that will host the AFCON games in order to follow up the level of organization.

In order to guage the impact of AFCON on the population, the 6th Commission will also visit Namibe, Uige, Kuando Kubango and Lunda Sul Provinces.
