Wimbledon and Perform partnert to launch Wimbledon Live
 19/06/2009

The All England Lawn Tennis Club and global digital sport and entertainment specialist Perform, has today re-launched Wimbledon Live (www.wimbledon.org/live), Wimbledon’s official pay per view video broadband service, for The Championships, 2009.

www.wimbledon.org/live, which goes live today, is seamlessly integrated into www.wimbledon.org for ease of navigation and will stream live coverage from the top six courts throughout The Championships, 2009. Fans of tennis around the world will be able to access all the latest live video coverage alongside full match action delayed, on a pay per view basis, by purchasing either a full tournament or day pass.

The service will be available across the globe but will be restricted in specific territories and, as part of the deal, Perform will also ingest and encode live feeds from four of the courts and distribute in WMV format to Wimbledon’s US television network partner - NBC.

In January, Perform streamed 6 simultaneous courts live for the Australian Open across www.australianopentv.com and partner sites, whilst also launching www.TennisTV.com, the revolutionary broadband TV partnership between the ATP World Tour and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. More recently, Perform launched the official website for the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour - www.sonyericssonwtatour.com.

Through the use of its established network of partners and affiliates, along with targeted CRM and social networking campaigns, Perform’s digital marketing team will also be responsible for driving both traffic and transactions for www.wimbledon.org/live.

John Rowlinson, Director of Television at the All England Lawn Tennis Club said: “We’re very excited about the relaunch of Wimbledon Live. The Wimbledon Championships have a huge global following and as such we wanted to partner with a proven specialist who could seamlessly deliver live online video coverage not only for the fans but also commercially for us.”

Oliver Slipper, Joint CEO of Perform said: “This latest deal reinforces our expertise in providing premium quality tennis live, to online fans around the world and maximising the digital revenues for our rights holder partners. Wimbledon is one of the most exciting annual sporting events in the calendar and the re-launch of Wimbledon Live will not only ensure that fans can catch all the action online, but also strengthens Perform’s position as a leader in the global digital sports sector.”
