Honda Drives The Tour of Britain
 02/07/2009

SweetSpot, organisers of The Tour of Britain announced its partnership with Honda (UK) which sees the company become the Official Car Partner for the professional cycle race, which is taking place from the 12th to the 19th September 2009.

The Tour of Britain organisational team will use Honda cars for routing, planning and marketing trips. In addition, the organisation will receive a fleet of around 40 more Honda Civics, CR-Vs and Insights which will be used to deliver Britain’s largest free to attend national cycle stage race.

Commenting on the agreement, The Tour of Britain’s Commercial Manager, Alastair Grant said: “We are thrilled to have Honda on board as The Tour of Britain’s Official Car Partner and look forward to working closely with them.

“Cycling by its very nature is a green, environmentally friendly sport and mode of transport, and the official race cars provided by Honda will be a mix of both British-manufactured and petrol-electric hybrid vehicles, which has great synergy with our aspirations for the race and its environmental credentials.

Ken Keir, Managing Director, Honda (UK)said: “The Tour of Britain is a fantastic opportunity, the majority of our race support cars are built in Britain and all are low emission, so what better shop window could we have than the huge crowds drawn to this amazing countywide spectacle."

The Tour of Britain is the UK’s biggest free to attend sporting event, attracting over a million spectators per year to towns, cities and communities across the length and breadth of the country.

The Tour of Britain 2009, which begins in Yorkshire on Saturday 12th September and finishes eight days later in the centre of London on Saturday 19th September, attracts a field of the world’s top riders to Britain each year.

Grant also added: “This partnership with Honda is also testament to the fact that The Tour of Britain is an ideal platform for brands wishing to align themselves with Britain’s best Olympic sport, while also addressing their corporate social responsibility needs.”
