Lagardère Sports chief to speak at Soccerex 09

Stéphane Schindler (COO Managing Director, Lagardère Sports) will participate alongside IMG and Havas Sports & Entertainment in a world-class sports marketing workshop.

Founded in 2006, Lagardère Sports has become a major industry player in the sports marketing field. The company comprises of world class agencies such as Sportfive and IEC in Sports. Lagardère Sports has been trusted by four of the key football governing bodies FIFA, UEFA, CAF and AFC to assist them in their media, marketing and event activities. The consolidated sales revenue for this organisation came to a staggering ˆ444 million in 2008.

Prior to assuming his role at Lagardère Sports, Schindler started his career at Eurosport France before joining Canal+, where he was responsible for negotiating worldwide sporting rights. In 2000, he moved to IMG/TWI as International Vice-President of TWI and Director of IMG Media France, where he became responsible for marketing sporting rights for major events including the Rugby World Cup.

This session, entitled “Future Trends in Sports Marketing”, is part of the Soccerex 09 conference programme, featuring experts from football and business tackling the ‘Global Issues’ and ‘Focused Topics’ currently affecting the football industry. The Soccerex 09 convention (28 November – 2 December) takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa, just two days prior to the final draw for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
