GAGOC presents progress report at 28th OCA General Assembly 06/07/2009 |

The 28th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) kicked off at the Raffles City Convention Centre of the Hotel Swissotel The Stamford in Singapore on Friday morning. Mr Gu Shiyang, Deputy Secretary General of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC), presented a progress report on preparations for the 16th Asian Games to the general assembly on behalf of GAGOC. OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Sabah was satisfied with Guangzhou's preparations and paid tribute to the organising committee.
Mr Gu gave Guangzhou Mayor Mr Zhang Guangning's regards to Sheikh Ahmad and described Guangzhou citizens' expectations and support for the 2010 Asian Games. He also presented a set of commemorative badges of the Games' Pictograms to the OCA President.
Meanwhile, GAGOC has set up a booth in the Hotel Swissotel The Stamford to promote the Guangzhou Asian Games. The booth has attracted a large number of delegates attending the first Asian Youth Games in Singapore. Among the visitors were OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Sabah and Director General Mr Husain Al-Musallam.
