UEFA announced the award of the 2009-12 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League media rights in Oceania.
One live match per matchnight
In Australia, free-to-air broadcaster SBS will show one live match on each UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matchnight. In addition, SBS will screen a highlights programme every matchweek, matches on a delayed basis and the UEFA Champions League magazine programme.
A further two live matches
Throughout the region, ESPN, a leading pay broadcaster, will show a further two live matches each matchweek of both competitions, as well as a highlights programme and extensive additional coverage of matches on a delayed basis. Both broadcasters will also exploit the rights from each competition on the internet and on mobile and will screen the annual UEFA Super Cup held in August each year.
'An excellent combination'
Commenting on the award of these rights, UEFA said: "UEFA is pleased to renew its partnership with two major broadcasters in the region. SBS and ESPN will guarantee an excellent combination of free-to-air and pay exposure as well as a great choice of programming for both competitions over the next three seasons." TEAM Marketing AG is the exclusive marketing agent of UEFA for the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Europa League.
