Asian Games venues to be ready by March 2010 10/07/2009

Construction has started on about 76% of the Asian Games venues and all of them will be ready for use by March 2010, according to Chen Runsen, Deputy Director of the Administration of Sports of Guangdong Province.
By June 30 this year, Guangzhou Gymnasium and University Town Triathlon Venue and Marathon Course had been delivered for use; 36 venues such as Tianhe Sports Centre and Guangzhou Velodrome had been under construction; expansion and renovations of 41 venues had got underway.
It is planned that there will be 72 venues for the Asian Games, including 53 competition venues and 19 training venues. Up to 80% of the venues in Guangzhou will be accessible by metro.
By June 20, 2009, a total of 5.81 billion yuan had been invested in the Asian Games Town, representing 44.96% of the total estimated investment. The overall progress of the project is about two months ahead of schedule.
