Guangzhou venues impress Incheon Asian Games delegates 20/06/2008

A 16-member delegation from the Incheon Asian Games Support Department visited Guangzhou on Monday, to take a 3-day tour of the city's breathtaking Asian Games venues, still under construction, and hear first hand about the latest 16th Asian Games preparations from the Organizers. The delegates, led by department director, Jung Da You, included nine reporters from the South Korean media, who conducted a series of interviews with GAGOC executives.
During their visit, the group visited GAGOC's offices, where they had a chance to speak with staff about the latest progress on venue construction, external relations and marketing efforts and ceremonies and cultural events. Xie Suqi, Deputy Director of Venues and Overlays Department and Yuan Yue, Deputy Director of Marketing Department, also hosted a Q&A; session, where they briefed the delegates on Games preparations.
Stops during the tour included Games venues at Guangzhou University Town, Tianhe Sports Center and Guangdong Olympic Sports Center. At University Town, they were met by Luo Guangzhai, Director of the Guangzhou Major Public Construction Projects Office, who took them on a tour of the venues there and briefed them on the latest construction progress.
The Incheon Asian Games Support Department was set up by the Incheon Municipal Government in January 2008. It is a municipal-level body responsible for overseeing the construction of the sports venues for the Incheon 2014 Asian Games, as well as providing administrative and financial support towards these efforts.
