According to the Guangzhou Municipal Reform and Development Commission, in the first half of year 2009, Guangzhou has invested 33.4 Billion CNY ($4.8 billion) on 78 major projects, completing 41.5% of the total planned investment injection and exhibiting an increase of 13.637 billion CNY (68.9% of the total).
These 78 major projects include the Asian Games Town, New Guangzhou Train Terminal, a few fast-Lane highways, and the water-system overall treatment as well as environmental protection projects. It is believed that these projects will keep bolstering the economic growth of Guangzhou.
According to a preliminary estimate, in the first half of year 2009, Guangzhou achieved a total investment of 89.8 billion CNY on capital with an increase of 19.2% from last year, which helped the city's total GDP to grow by at least 8.5%.
