A report by the SA Property Transfer Guide on the impact 2010 stadia have on surrounding properties reveals that most areas showed relatively consistent growth in property values. Polokwane and Nelspruit were exceptions because they are situated outside the main urban area.
Similarly, Royal Bafokeng in Rustenberg bucked the trend and no significant pattern either could be discerned in Full or Sectional Title properties within 5km. Properties within 0-2km of Ellis Park and Soccer City (both Johannesburg) were the star performers. Properties within this radius from Ellis Park showed a 111% increase between 2005 and 2008 and Soccer City came in second with 85.5% growth over the same period. Pretoria and Port Elizabeth also performed well.
