Windstärke 11 (Wind Speed 11), a regional consortium for wind energy, has been confirmed as the Main Sponsor of F.C. Hansa Rostock. A joint announcement was made on Friday by the club and its marketing partner Infront Germany at a press conference in Rostock. The sponsorship agreement was concluded just a few days before F.C. Hansa plays its first match of the 2009/2010 2nd Bundesliga season on Monday, 10 August - an away match vs. Arminia Bielefeld.

Windstärke 11 represents several wind energy companies in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region. Its founding members are all based in the region and include Nordex, Wind-projekt, e.n.o. energy and a number of operators of wind energy parks. The rights Windstärke 11 has acquired include the shirt sponsorship, board advertising and a package of other stadium communication platforms as well as access to hospitality.

“Windstärke 11 is an excellent brand for F.C. Hansa Rostock to partner with. It is maritime, fresh and future-oriented, with an image and business in tune with the times. I am confident that we will share many new and exciting chapters of our club history, with a stiff following breeze to put the wind in our sails,” said Jörg Hempel, Chief Marketing Officer of F.C. Hansa.

Hans-Ulrich Gienke, President of the Board of Directors, added: “This agreement means that we have a strong and attractive commercial partner but also an innovative sponsorship approach, which is unparalleled in Germany.”

Hansa allows all the companies involved in the consortium to have an active role and demonstrate their strong relationship with the region and the club, its players and the fans,” said Carlo Schmidt, Managing Director Wind-projekt GmbH. “We plan to recruit additional members and this high-profile sponsorship will be helpful in this respect.”
