Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and São Paulo have confirmed their participation in a world-exclusive session bringing together the key Host Cities at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, in which they will outline their principal investment needs. According to Globo’s G1 website, the 12 host cities have a projected $41.7billion spending fund.
Marcia Lins (Secretary of Sport, Rio de Janeiro) will present Rio’s investment and expertise requirements in the city that will be the hub of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Nearly half of the budget is expected to be invested in São Paulo; as South America’s largest city plans on spending $19.1 billion, Caio Carvalho (Secretary of Sport, São Paulo) will be on hand to discuss his ambitious budget. Finally, Fabio Simão (President of the local federation, Brasilia) will represent Brazil’s capital and examine the logistical requirements for the renovation of the iconic Mane Garrincha Stadium.
Over the next month Soccerex expects to confirm senior representative speakers from more 2014 FIFA World Host Cities including Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Salvador, Recife, Natal, Fortaleza, Manaus and Cuiaba.
