FIFA’s accommodation provider Match has denied there is anything untoward about its relationship with a company reportedly run by FIFA boss Sepp Blatter’s relative.
The Sunday Times reported that Match has hiked prices for accommodation for visitors during the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.
The organisation will get a 30 percent commission of the rate for each room it lets.
Match Hospitality is owned by Jamie Byrom and a company reportedly run by Blatter’s nephew Phillip.
Byrom is adamant that there is nothing improper about this.
“The person in question, Phillip Blatter, is not really a shareholder. So how he managed to connect Match Hospitality to personal gain, on behalf of the Blatter family, is just not correct…that’s not the way it is."
