A high-level FIFA delegation, accompanied by officials from the 2010 Local Organising Committee is nearing the end of an extensive stadium inspection tour.
The 50-member team visited Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban this weekend and inspected Nelspruit’s Mbombela Stadium on Monday morning.
The team which includes experts in construction, security, ticketing and IT will wrap up the tour with visits to Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium (Tuesday), and Soccer City in Johannesburg (Wednesday).
Although the tour is closed to the media, a detailed report will be issued at the end. However, with most of the stadiums nearing completion, it is unlikely that there will be any surprises. The tour is being collaborated with the host city offices.
