EURO 2012 broadcast rights deal for Sweden
 02/10/2009

UEFA has reached an exclusive agreement with TV4 AB (TV4) and Sveriges Television AB (SVT) for the broadcasting rights of UEFA EURO 2012™ in Sweden.

Live and highlights
TV4 and SVT will ensure an extensive free-to-air coverage during the tournament via live broadcast of 24 matches and highlights programmes of all 31 games. In addition, TV4 and SVT will offer a wide promotion of the UEFA European Championship in the run-up to the finals via the broadcast of dedicated magazines and other programmes.

Pay TV
In parallel, there will be a comprehensive coverage of UEFA EURO 2012™ on pay TV where all 31 matches will be broadcast live on a dedicated channel of Canal Digital, with seven of these games on an exclusive basis. Reruns of the matches, highlights magazines and further UEFA EURO 2012™ dedicated programmes will complement the offering on Canal Digital.

Longstanding partners
Following the finalisation of the agreement, UEFA General Secretary David Taylor said: "UEFA is delighted to welcome TV4 and SVT as members of the exclusive group of UEFA EURO 2012™ official broadcasters. Both TV4 and SVT are longstanding partners of UEFA as well as leading broadcasters in Sweden.

In-depth coverage
"The agreement will provide in-depth coverage of the competition and the inclusion of Canal Digital will further complement the wide offer of the free-to-air broadcasters with a dedicated UEFA EURO 2012™ channel," he added. "It is great news for football fans in Sweden as this extensive coverage will provide them with a unique viewing experience."
