Peter Wraith, the Chief Executive Officer of Sportsbrand Media Group, is to leave the international television production and distribution group, after a ten year association with the group.
“To leave Sportsbrand, which has been a big part of my life for so many years, has not been an easy decision. It’s been an incredibly exciting period of my life, though I am not sure my family would entirely agree given the huge travel load it has required. I do feel that the time is right to move on to a new challenge and find a bit more balance”, Peter said.
Peter was appointed Chief Executive Officer in December 2005 following 7 years as the Group Finance Director. During his time at Sportsbrand, his role has been all‐encompassing, heading up Sportsbrand’s operational divisions and overseeing major strategic initiatives, both on the corporate and commercial levels. Peter has been the driving force behind an extended period of impressive profit growth.
Sportsbrand is a wholly owned subsidiary of privately owned Australian investment company, The Bennelong Group.
Alison Watkins, the Chief Executive Officer of Bennelong, said today: “We are sorry that Peter has decided to move on as he has been an integral part of the business for a long time. Peter has embraced the responsibility of driving the business forward with great determination and effort.
He is a talented executive and we will miss his leadership, professional and personal qualities”.
Regarding Peter’s successor, Alison Watkins said: “Peter has given us sufficient notice of his plans such that we are able to plan for an orderly transition. We will undertake a global search and expect to fill the role by early in 2010. In the meantime, it will be business as usual for our clients with Peter continuing as CEO until 31 December and ongoing leadership from the Sportsbrand senior management team of Matt Whytcross, Mark Spencer and Max Palethorpe”.
