Eurosport continues its drive to become Asia-Pacific’s premier sports broadcaster by significantly extending its reach in Australia from 15 November 2009, when it launches on the FOXTEL and AUSTAR distribution platforms.

“We are absolutely thrilled with these two new deals” says Eurosport Asia Pacific’s Managing Director, Arjan Hoekstra. “They will bring Eurosport to a new, highly sought after audience and solidify its ambition to offer the most comprehensive range of quality sports programming to the largest possible audience across Asia Pacific”.

Eurosport is currently distributed in the Australian market on other cable, IPTV and satellite platforms, but the link with FOXTEL and AUSTAR, two of the region’s leading distributors, will further broaden its appeal and visibility Down Under.

FOXTEL and AUSTAR will give Eurosport blanket coverage in the Australian pay-TV market.

Eurosport will be part of the sports package on both platforms on Channel 511. Currently, both platforms carry Eurosportnews, Eurosport’s leading 24-hour international sports news channel.

A total of over 60 sports disciplines will be broadcast on Eurosport, many of which feature Australian teams or participants which will further enhance the appeal to local audiences.

Eurosport and Eurosportnews are distributed in 16 countries across Asia-Pacific.
