Input Media Africa gets World Cup deal
 06/10/2009

Input Media, one of the UK’s leading independent sports production companies, has agreed a deal with V&A; Waterfront in Cape Town to manage the media and broadcast facilities at The Waterfront in the build up to and during next year’s FIFA 2010 World Cup.

London-based Input Media opened an office in Cape Town earlier this year and now plans to provide high-definition editing, graphics, play-out facilities and full TV production services at The Waterfront Media Centre close to the city’s purpose-built Greenpoint Stadium. This will also include a media information centre that will provide full support services including stock footage of the West Cape’s major tourism attractions, a booking service and general information.

The Waterfront’s unique position in Cape Town means it can offer fully-equipped presentation studios and a range of stand-up positions with views over the new stadium, the iconic Table Mountain and V&A; Waterfront all of which will be available for hire by the world’s visiting media and broadcasters.

The V&A; (Victoria & Alfred) Waterfront in Cape Town expects to attract thousands of media representatives during the World Cup. Millions of tourists currently visit each year making it one of sub-Sahara’s biggest attractions as well as a major gateway to the Western Cape.

John Elliott, Commercial Director 2010 for V&A; Waterfront, said: “Input Media are the perfect partners for us in this venture. They have a proven track record of working in football at the highest level and delivering top class results for their clients.”

David Wood, Executive Chairman of Input Media, said: “We are proud to be working with V&A; Waterfront on this exciting project. Cape Town’s Waterfront is the city’s natural meeting point for all of its visitors. Our skilled producers and engineers have considerable experience of working to tight programme deadlines and are looking forward to meeting the demands of broadcasters from around the world.”

The media and broadcast facilities to be provided by Input Media Africa will form part of a “Western Cape Legacy Centre” being planned by the V&A; Waterfront which already accommodates around 450 shops, 80 restaurants and 7 hotels.
