EURO 2012: to reach success together

On Wednesday, October 7, the House of football hosted a briefing featuring Martin Kallen, Chief Operating Officer of Euro 2012, President of Football Federation of Ukraine Grigoriy Surkis and director of the UEFA Euro-2012 Local Organizing Committee Markiyan Lubkivsky.

Summaries of euro-events

The summaries of the EUFA inspection team to Ukraine were sketched during the meeting with mass media representatives. The journalists heard the information concerning the events that took place in Kyiv this week in terms of the ongoing preparation to EURO 2012, in particular the seminar for the hosting cities and forum for UEFA representatives, Ukraine and Poland Local Organizing Committees.

International experience

At the seminar for the hosting cities UEFA experts led by Martin Kallen shared their experience about the cities that used to stage continental championships. This goes for fanzones placing, promotion of the tournament inside the city and so on. Then the four host cities representatives, in their turn, presented their own structures worked out to control the preparation and staging of the tournament.

Team spirit

The first team-building meeting in assistance with UEFA members, Ukraine and Poland Local Organizing Committees members aimed to shape a professional team of organizers. This event helped unite the team players, reveal leadership, strengthen the ties between departments and courage up the team spirit. The seminar enabled the participant to gain valuable hands-on experience while working out various situations that can arise during the completion hosting.

Meeting of directors of the Tournament

Chief Operating Officer of EURO 2012 Martin Kallen accentuated that the most important factor in preparation at the moment is a close collaboration between all subdivisions, who is concerned in preparation for the Tournament, organs of the state power and the representatives of the hosting cities. Within the framework of the meeting of Martin Kallen with Ukrainian and Polish directors of the tournament Markiyan Lubkivskiy and Adam Olkovic the key questions of organization of the championship’s final part and preparation for the EURO 2012 qualification draw (Warsaw, February 7) were also discussed.

Common aim

According to the words of Markiyan Lubkivskiy all planned events were useful both from the point of view of realization of the tasks, which the Tournament organizers face, and for setting up international relations, forming motivation and responsibility for the common affair. “It is not a time for arguments. We have to act firmly and professionally, because we have a common aim” − he mentioned.

Carrying out obligations

Grigoriy Surkis in his turn paid tribute to the great efforts of the organs of central and city power in order to realize such a tremendous project as EURO 2012. “The world’s financial crisis complicates our target some more, but Ukrainian authorities do all in their power in order to carry out all obligations before UEFA. It is very pleasant that our country successfully goes to its desired aim in such a hard period” − Grigoriy Surkis said.
