Sunset+Vine has been commissioned to distribute and produce a second season of Mobil 1 The Grid, the definitive weekly round-up show of the world’s best motor sports.
The programme, which launched in March 2009, features the latest and exclusive news on all aspects of motor sports. This will be enhanced through its association with Mobil 1, which has a huge presence in Formula 1 and IRL/NASCAR, right down to grass-roots level motor sports.
The programme’s popularity was underlined by a first-season take-up of 40 broadcasters in 196 countries.
Nina Scales, Head of Sales and Marketing for distribution arm, Sunset+Vine International, said: “The success of the first season of Mobil 1 The Grid has exceeded all expectations.
“On a distribution level, key broadcasters currently include FIVE in the UK, J Sports in Japan, Beijing TV and Shanghai TV in China, Speed in the US and Neo Sports in India.
Ian Sollors, Head of Branded Content at Sunset+Vine, said: “Mobil 1 The Grid has become the essential motor sports magazine show, and proved popular with a wide audience, from newcomers to the sport to seasoned fans.
“As the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand, Mobil 1 has a long history of being the lubricant of choice for many successful motor sports and racing teams around the globe.”
Alan Kelly, President, ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties Company, said: “We are very proud of the success that Mobil 1 The Grid enjoyed in its initial season and look forward to bringing racing fans even closer to the action on the track and views behind the scences during the program’s second season. "
Along with Mobil 1 status as the “Official Motor Oil of NASCAR”, the brand has also had long-time associations with Penske Racing’s IRL and NASCAR teams, and Vodafone McLaren Mercedes’ F1 team.
The 2010 season of Mobil 1 The Grid starts with the beginning of the motor sports calendar in March, and will include 30 x 30-minute shows throughout the year. Language versions are offered, including Mandarin, Arabic, Japanese, Spanish and German.
