On Thursday 14 October, over one billion people around the world will tune in to watch the official Closing of the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Glasgow and Scotland will present the Flag Handover Ceremony that will mark the start of the 4 year lead up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Following a procurement exercise, Glasgow 2014 Ltd., The Organising Committee (OC) for the Commonwealth Games announced the team that will lead the creative development and delivery of the Handover Ceremony.

Strategic communications company Unspun has been appointed Creative Lead. The company’s co-founder, Sara Donaldson, along with Catherine Ugwu, an independent Executive Producer, and Mark Fisher an independent Production Designer, will collaborate with a world-class team to develop and deliver the Ceremony at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. This team brings a wealth of experience in creating spectacular public events. Projects they have worked on include: Beijing Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Doha Asian Games Opening Ceremony, Turin Winter Olympic Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Manchester Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony, U2, Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, and the Royal Opening of BAA Terminal 5.

Chair of the selection panel, Bridget McConnell, the chief executive of Culture and Sport Glasgow comments: “The Flag Handover Ceremony is a significant milestone in the Organising Committee’s preparations. This incredible team has the proven passion and talent to develop a magnificent event that will showcase the best of Glasgow and Scotland, providing a flavour of what people can expect in the run up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.”
