Jim Scherr, former USOC's chief executive officer launched a full-service marketing and events firm Wednesday, with headquarters in Colorado Springs, former USOC employees Steve Brunner, Jim Grice and Darryl Seibel as business partners and start-up clients that include Olympic national governing bodies, bull-riding organizations and road cycling tours.

A former Olympic wrestler, Scherr was considered an outside contender to replace acting CEO Stephanie Streeter, who will resign in March. Streeter succeeded Scherr, whose six-year tenure with the USOC ended seven months ago, with Streeter rising from the USOC board to claim the organization's highest-paid post.

''You would never rule anything out, but I'm looking forward with this new company and not looking backward,'' said Scherr, the CEO of 776 Original Marketing at 4935 N. 30th St. ''It would be a tremendous long shot for a whole set of reasons right now.''

Also Wednesday, the USOC tabbed former Chicago 2016 spokesman Patrick Sandusky to replace Seibel as acting chief communications officer. Sandusky will oversee about 15 people while reporting to Streeter. He begins Oct. 26, and the job runs through March.

''I know a lot of people there,'' said Sandusky, who helped manage London's winning bid for the 2012 Olympics and has ties to NASCAR, Wimbledon and the FIFA World Cup.
