Perth 2011 appoints preferred accommodation provider
 29/10/2009

Tens of thousands of spectators, 4,000 official personnel and more than 1,400 international athletes are expected to arrive in Western Australia, for the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

Perth 2011 Director Commercial Operations Darren Beazley said that after a comprehensive tender process, he was delighted to announce the AOT Group as the official accommodation provider to Perth 2011.

“With an Event of this size, travel professionals with expertise in large bookings were necessary to facilitate accommodation bookings for the thousands of visitors Perth 2011 will attract,” Mr Beazley explained.

“The AOT Group has the expertise, experience and the online booking capabilities, which will be an incredible asset in managing the demanding travel requirements of the World Championships.”

The AOT Group has expertise in handling large volumes of bookings, access to an extensive network of high quality, yet affordable accommodation options, first-class knowledge of the industry and professionalism in making bookings quickly.

“The AOT Group will also be able to assist those who wish to take advantage of being in
Western Australia by offering pre and post Championships holiday packages,” Mr Beazley said.

Chief Executive Officer of The AOT Group Andrew Burnes said it was a privilege to have been appointed as the preferred accommodation provider to the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships.

“The Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships is a prestigious Event and one AOT is proud to be associated with,” Mr Burnes said.

“We have a proven track record in managing large group bookings and look forward to providing a quality service to meet the differing needs of thousands of travellers.
“I encourage visitors to the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships to book some extra time and have a holiday in magnificent Western Australia while they are here – the Margaret River Wine Region in the South West is a particularly great place to holiday in December,” Mr Burnes said.

The AOT Group is Australia's leading wholesale inbound travel distribution business, and a trusted international organisation, with branches throughout Australia, Asia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Through their incredible resources, they can assist with accommodation, packages, tours, transfers, car and camper hire, fly-drives, flights, and attractions for individuals and groups visiting Australia and New Zealand.

“For the athletes competing at this Event, The Dream Begins in Perth, as they strive to become World Champions in their chosen sailing class at Perth 2011 and potentially qualify their nations for the 2012 London Olympic Games,” Mr Beazley said.
