After three years as sponsor of the World Matchplay Championship in Sheffield, The Co-operative Funeralcare has extended its sponsorship portfolio with the World Bowls Tour to become title sponsor of next month's Scottish International Open, the first event of the 2009/10 WBT season in Perth.

Furthermore, The Co-operative Funeralcare will sponsor the 2010 World Matchplay Championship.

The Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish International Open is the opening event of the WBT season, which will take place at Dewars Centre in Perth from 7-14 November. The world ranking event features the top 16 indoor bowlers in the world, joined by qualifiers from the UK, Australia, South Africa, USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Israel and New Zealand.

The Co-operative Funeralcare Scottish International Open will enjoy more than 20 hours of live and highlights coverage on BBC TV Scotland, as well as nationwide via the BBC digital platform. In addition, Sky TV will live feature coverage of the Co-operative Funeralcare World Matchplay Championship for two days, plus 7 x 2 hour highlights.

"World Bowls Tour is extremely pleased that The Co-operative Funeralcare has extended its association with us to sponsor the Scottish International Open, and we are proud to be working in conjunction with the company to produce high level professional bowls on both BBC Network and Regional Television," said WBT Director Richard Maddieson.

Lorinda Sheasby, Head of Marketing for The Co-operative Funeralcare, added: "We're delighted to now sponsor a WBT world ranking event for the first time, in addition to our fourth year of the World Matchplay Championship, and look forward to working closely with the World Bowls Tour in Scotland."

Dales Sports Surfaces have also agreed with World Bowls Tour a sponsorship package for the season and will continue to be the WBT supplier of the blue portable rink.
