Organisers of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games have postponed the third phase of online ticket sales until November 14 because of major website problems, which prevented the sale of 100,00 tickets.
People trying to log on to the website could only get a message saying the link appeared to be broken, or a message asking them to try again later.
Vancouver 2010 officials now say about 100,000 more tickets will be available on November 14.
“We are disappointed that people wanting to purchase tickets today did not receive the chance to do so - this is the first time we have had such an issue,” said Caley Denton, vice-president of ticketing for VANOC.
“Even though it appears the problem is close to being resolved, we made the decision to postpone the sale of Phase 3 tickets for one week as our priority has always been to ensure fair access to Canadian residents and to allow sufficient time to plan accordingly.”
